You will probably find that they do sound very different, and so are open to different interpretations in terms of movement. Many other combinations of tempo, quality and rhythm are possible, particularly on the piano keyboard. Because of its vast range and the use of two hands in playing, it is possible not only to create a great variety of sounds, but also to vary the sounds within one piece of music. For instance, the right and left hands could be playing differently, thus giving two options for interpretation, it could even be that the body expresses one option, and the apparatus the other. The orchestra is obviously able to offer a wide variation of sound with its large number of instruments but as stated earlier it is only recently that full orchestra accompaniment has been allowed. In many ways, particularly in the search for suitable music, this has opened up greater possibilities. Although there was a trend in other instrument music, that is music played on instrument other t …

Variety is essential, and the use of different directions and different levels can produce very creative movements. You should aim to work with the apparatus in new and unusual ways as well as around the established characteristics of each piece and to provide interesting and well judged exercises. I would not recommend beginners to acquire gymnastic clubs at all. Apart from the expense and the fact that there is no real substitute they are also difficult to work with and are regarded as being more advanced. Because of the intricacies of working with two clubs simultaneously, and because the throwing and catching technique, even of small juggling elements, has to be co-coordinated and controlled, they can be quite dangerous. However, some simple swinging moves are beneficial and effective for both general coordination practice and as a visual display. It would seem appropriate at this stage to mention group work, choreography usually for six gymnasts who all work together in a sequenc …

In every case, the rolling action must be smooth and continuous and should be performed with elegance and style. This is particularly important consideration for the roll on the floor, for in starting it off the gymnast must bend the knees in order to get low, almost brushing the fingers along the floor, as in a normal ten pin bowling action. This not only ensures a smooth rolling action on the floor, but also looks more elegant than having your bottom stuck up in the air. One the ball is set in motion any body movement may be performed before the ball is collected again. The gymnast could perform a dance step, leaps alongside or over the ball, or add a turn or a body wave as well. Try collecting the ball in a variety of different ways. Here are a few suggestions: 1. Overtake the ball and with a half turn to face it, collect it in one hand, palm upwards. 2. Move alongside the ball and, still facing the same way, collect it with the hand facing backwards, palm upwards. 3. Overtake the …

The term has also come to denote the warm up exercises themselves. In some instances this term is even used to signify the part of the class that has barre exercises. The ballet bar may be mounted on a wall. Many companies now manufacture free standing barres as well. The bars are made of wood or metal. The standard height of most bars is around 40 inches. This can be adjusted according to the height of the dancer in the free standing variety. The ballet bar is an important part of training for novice dancers. The waist-high bar helps dancers steady themselves during the initial part of training. The bar provides a reference point in exercises and ballet routines. It can also be used to provide resistance to the legs and arms in exercises. The bar is also the novice dancer’s first partner in most cases. The exercises done on a ballet bar are slow in pace and generally repetitive. The exercises aim at improving the dancer’s posture and enhancing the body’s steadiness. The exercises per …

Rolling along the floor demands care in setting the hoop off into the roll so that it remains vertical and in a straight line. When it is in motion, the gymnast performs a variety of body movements, having to travel at some stage to catch up with it and collect it. In order to achieve this, the arm must be swung vigorously forwards to achieve the roll away, but the wrist pulls up and back equally vigorously in order to put the back spin on to the hoop. This is fun to do, and creates great amusement when the action is not quite true, and the hoop rolls off towards someone else instead of coming back to the sender. Of greater difficulty, because of the size of the hoop, is the roll on the body. The technique is basically the same as that used for rolling the ball which is identical for the actual roll itself, but the difference lies in initiating the movement. The hoop must be gripped more tightly to ensure that it is placed in a vertical position on the body. The fingers open and the h …

whilst the apparatus is in the air, much practice in the art of throwing is necessary, and the mastery of catching the apparatus too. What is being performed under the apparatus will dictate the speed and the angle of the throw. Knowing also that it is important to show a variety of throws and catches, it is necessary to use different grips and different directions. However, before any of these more complex techniques can be attempted, the basic throw must be mastered. Because this skill has to be performed with the use of one hand only, I would recommend that the beginner starts with the hoop as it is easier to grip and control. Hold the hoop in the right hand in over grasp and swing the arm down to the side and back, keeping the hoop parallel to the body. As the arm goes back, the wrist will be cocked with the back of the hand facing the floor, the grip should be firm. Next, the arm swings through to stretch forwards and upwards into the throwing action. Try to keep the arm as strai …

With an end in each hand, stretch the arms sideways so that the rope hangs across the front of the feet. Sway gently from right to left, transferring the weight from one foot to the other. Lean away from the rope on each swing, i.e. when the weight is on the left foot, lean to the right and vice versa. Allow the knees to relax so that the movement is not jerky, and, most important of all, keep the arms wide apart, taking the left arm high and the right arm low as the weight moves to the left side, and then swing and change like a pendulum when the weight transfers to the other side. At all times, the rope should remain in a good curve shape, if it kinks it is probably because your arms are too close together, your movement is too jerky or you are not leaning sufficiently to one side. As with the swing in the wheel place, this is a basic movement which can be developed in a variety ways. It is quite a challenge to try a turn with the body, taking the open rope swing overhead. The feet …

Do you think that slow music played in the bass creates a different impression to slow music played in the treble? Similarly, compare fast music played in the bass with that played in the treble. Trampolines For Sale When you first begin looking and trampolines in your newspaper and stores you might not know exactly what you are looking for. People who put their used trampolines up for sale are often just interested in finding someone to purchase their used trampoline. They might not even be that concerned about the price they get for it. The sale price of a used trampoline should reflect the amount of wear and tear the trampoline has been through. If you are specifically shopping for a trampoline of the 10-foot variety then you might have a more difficult time. Consider looking online or shop at a specialty store that carriers all trampoline supplies for all different sizes. The 10 foot Model Most trampolines are 14 feet in diameter, so if you are looking for a 10 foot one you might have a difficult time. On the other hand you might find it easier than you though to find a 10 foot rebounder that is in good condition. Most likely this is because the family is upgrading to a 14 …
