This book shows newcomers the best ways to try out the sport, and for those already participating, how to achieve their personal best safely and efficiently. It covers training and how to prepare a realistic program; adapting to your strengths and weaknesses; advice on diet and nutrition, weight training, and stretching and flexibility; injuries; and preparation for positive, combative mental attitude for competition.

Customer Review: Good book about training several sports
I am planning to do the Swedish Classic - a combination of four events during one year: Skiing, Biking, Swimming and Running. The differences from triathlon is 1) that these are separate events and b) the skiing. So that is why I picked this book up.

This is sinmple a must read for any one wanting to do a triathlon…no matter what level you are.

Customer Review: In Depth material
This book may not suit a beginner or first timer triathlete…but after saying that…there are wonderful bits and pieces that would be helpful. But reading it from beginning to end would be too detailed for those just wanting to get to the finish line (I recommend “triathlon 101″).

Customer Review: Excellent reading
I found this book to be very helpful as I go through my next mid-life crisis. It was informative and laced with humor. Not much more I could ask for.Your First Triathlon
Customer Review: Great book for beginner triathlete
I read several books while preparing for my first sprint triathlon. This book and “Slow Fat Triathlete” were my two favorites. Neither is too technical, but full of helpful “newbie” info.
