There is nowhere to run and hide if you are living in a tribe. Therefore, we have evolved the fear of public ridicule as a defense mechanism to protect our genes. So, how can we overcome this fear? First, we have to try to perceive the fear for what it is: an outdated survival instinct. Nowadays, we no longer live in small tribes, so the absolute worst thing that can happen if you embarrass yourself in front of others is that you feel a bit silly. This might not be much consolation but it does help put things in perspective. A more practical solution is to ensure that you are well prepared with a clear structure to your presentation. You arrange the points you want to make in the order you want to say them on cards that fit easily into the palm of your hand. Make sure you number them in case they get mixed up. This will help you to maintain fluency. Fluent speakers appear confident and in control. And when you appear confident, soon enough, you will start to feel confident. Presenting …

Summer is often a very slow time in the gym business and they can use the business. Before you decide to spend money outside of your own gym, you should seriously consider spending it in your own gym first. No Coach is Going to Work Harder Than Your Own No camp coach is going to be more interested and dedicated to training your gymnast than your own coaches in your own gym. Coaches at gymnastics camps are usually either the coach of some other team or high school or college gymnasts. They have their own gymnasts or gymnastics career to think about that does not directly involve your child. A Week at Camp Doesn t a Gymnast Make It is possible that a new coaching perspective can sometimes bump forward a gymnast s progress, but one week or so is not likely to have lasting training value. In essence, your gymnasts progress is going to depend on the training they receive from your own coaches on a year round basis, not a one week at a commercial summer camp. Camps Let Gymnasts See Where Th …

This article points them out to you. #1 Fully Support Your Own Gym It seems apparent that many parents do not fully realize the implications of not fully supporting their own gym s summer program. To put it in perspective, for the price paid for every two gymnasts attending a commercial gymnastics summer camp, your gym could purchase a piece of training equipment that your gymnasts could be using year round. It is also highly unlikely that gymnasts will find a coach at any summer camp more committed to their progress and success than they will find in their own gym. Money spent on a summer camp might be better spent on private lessons from your own coach. We seriously recommend that no parent or gymnast pay to attend any summer camp without fully supporting (and paying for) their own gym s summer program. #2 - Why Build Your Competitor s Program? We have to wonder sometimes about the wisdom of choosing to attend (and financially support) a summer camp run by a team you may face in t …

The World Market for Articles and Equipment for General Physical Exercise, Gymnastics, or Athletics: A 2007 Global Trade Perspective The World Market for Articles and Equipment for General Physical Exercise, Gymnastics, or Athletics: A 2007 Global Trade Perspective On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners approaching the world market face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying articles and equipment for general physical exercise, gymnastics, or athletics? What is the dollar value of these imports? How much do the imports of articles and equipment for general physical exercise, gymnastics, or athletics vary from one country to another? Do exporters serving the world market have similar market shares across the importing countries? Which countries supply the most exports of articles and equipment for general physical exercise, gymnastics, or athletics? Which countries are buying their exports? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers? In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing the regional markets for imported and exported articles and equipment for general physical exercise, gymnastics, or athletics. The total level of imports and exports on a worldwide basis, and those for each region, is based on a model which aggregates across over 150 key country markets and projects these to the current year. From there, each country represents a percent of the world market. This market is served from a number of competitive countries of origin. Based on both demand- and supply-side dynamics, market shares by country of origin are then calculated across each country market destination. These shares lead to a volume of import and export values for each country and are aggregated to regional and world totals. In doing so, we are able to obtain maximum likelihood estimates of both the value of each market and the shares that countries are likely to receive this year. From these figures, rankings are calculated to allow managers to prioritize markets. In this way, all the figures provided in this report are forecasts that can be combined with internal information for strategic planning purposes.
