Let the Olympic Games Begin!Posted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesBring the Olympics into your home by planning some activities and crafts to inspire your children to be active and experience the Olympic spirit. The Olympic Flag Explain to your child that the Olympic Flag is a very special flag. It has five interlocking colored rings on a white background. The rings represent the five major land areas, or continents, of the world. Show children these land areas on a map or globe. Explain that the rings are interlocked to show friendship among the different nations. Then, have your child paint or color interlocking rings on a sheet of white printing paper to resemble the Olympic Flag. Attach to a drinking straw for the handle. The Olympic Torch During opening ceremonies of the Olympics, a specially chosen person lights the Olympic cauldron to signal the official start of the games. The flame is kept burning during the entire length of the games. Have your child make his/her own Olympic torch and let the games begin! To make a simple torch, have your … Tags: Colored Rings, Continents Of The World, Crafts, Drinking Straw, Flame, Friendship, Globe, Land Areas, Olympic Cauldron, Olympic Flag, Olympic Games, Olympic Opening, Olympic Spirit, Olympic Torch, Olympics, Opening Ceremonies, Paint, Printing Paper, White Background, White Printing

Gymnastics and Olympic Games - What Other People Are Not Telling You About This SportPosted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesIt was then that the International Gymnastics Federation gave official recognition to the various apparatus exercises, the rope, the hoop and the ball, and set up the first World Championships which were held in 1963. Not until some times later were the clubs and the ribbons events included. Since 1963, the World Championships have been held every alternate year, this being the major competition in the international calendar for rhythmic gymnastics. Gradually, other competitions have been introduced, European Championships were inaugurated in 1978, and then a Four Continents Championship, but the ultimate recognition for the sport was its inclusion in the Olympic Games for the first time in Los Angeles 1984. Current rules state that no more than two gymnasts per country are eligible for the Olympics, and that qualification is necessary before entry into the competition is allowed. The qualifying competition is a sudden death affair, just one chance in the World Championships preceding … Tags: Competitions, Four Continents, Gymnasts, Inclusion, International Calendar, International Gymnastics Federation, Olympic Games, Olympics, People, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Ribbons, Rope, Sport, Sudden Death, Time In Los Angeles, World Championships

Trampolines - A Brief HistoryPosted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesIn fact the first modern trampoline only actually came into existence in the 20th century in America. George Nissan and Larry Griswold a gymnast and assistant coach used their experiences of training with and mending the safety nets used by trapeze artists to inspire their first portable trampoline in 1936. Trampolining as a sport was born and from there was taken into gymnastic competitions from 1947, but took until 1967 for the sport to be recognized in its own right. Trampolining has been recognized as an Olympic event since 2000, where it was introduced at the Sydney Olympics and since then has spread across the globe. For the last twenty years or so, Garden Trampolines have become popular, and have provided a huge boost to the sport. The success at the top of any sport is governed by the width of potential talent coming in at the bottom, and the boom in residential trampolines has greatly increased the number of potential high end athletes. Today, trampolining is popular the worl … Tags: 20th Century, Assistant Coach, Boom, Brief History, Competitions, Existence, Experiences, Globe, Griswold, Gymnast, Nissan, Olympic Event, Olympics, Sydney Olympics, Trampoline, Trampolines, Trampolining, Trapeze Artists, Twenty Years, Worl

Gold Beaming From Shawn JohnsonPosted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesJohnson beat her friend and teammate Nastia Liukin on the balance beam in the last of the Olympic games gymnastic events to win the Gold. Johnson performed a powerful routine, as always. The 7.0 start value of her routine was the highest in the competition. She finished with a huge grin, scoring 16.225 to take over the lead. Liukin went next. Though she is the reigning world champion on the beam, her start value was 6.6, the third lowest among the eight final competitors. Her routine was graceful and smooth, as opposed to Johnson’s routine which was filled with difficult tricks. She finished with a 16.025 score, not good enough to pass Johnson, her on-going rival and Olympic roommate. Johnson who had already won 3 Silver medals was ecstatic to finally win a Gold in her final chance of this Olympics. Nastia Liukin did win the Gold Medal in the all a round competition and Johnson took the Silver. Together the two women have won 8 medals. Earlier in the games Johnson was narrowly edged o … Tags: Balance Beam, Gold Medal, Gymnastic Events, Johnson Johnson, Olympic Games, Olympics, Roommate, Score, Shawn Johnson, Silver Medals, Teammate, Two Women, World Champion

Why No Investigation by IOC and IGF Over Chinese Gymnasts’ Age Controversy?Posted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesIf an athlete is good enough to qualify for the Olympics — then they should be allowed to compete — regardless of age. And it seems silly to me that there is minimum age requirements for some events in the Olympics and not others. One of the female US swimmers, for instance, is only 15 years-old and and there is a 14 year-old British diver — both of whom are both legally competing. In addition, it also seems silly to allow a gymnast to practice over 50 hours a week and compete in all other competitions, but not in the Olympics. It also seems silly that the International Gymnastic Federation (IGF) should dictate the rules for the Olympics instead of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Plus, a significant reason the US women gymnastics team did not take home the team gold is because they made numerous mistakes. However, that all being said, a rule is a rule and the lack of follow-up by the IOC and the IGF over the Chinese gymnasts’ ages is, well, silly. The rule, implemented b … Tags: Athlete, Chinese Gymnasts, Competitions, Controversy, Gymnast, Gymnastic Federation, Gymnastics Team, International Olympic Committee, Ioc, Olympics, Qualify For The Olympics, Swimmers, Team Gold

5 Keys to Creating Goals that You can Achieve and Leave!Posted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesThe following article gives you five keys on setting goals that will keep you motivated. Key One Make them realistic, make them yours. Key Two Write them down Key Three See them every day Key Four Make it easy, set up strong support structures. Key Five Acknowledge and review regularly. Key One Make them realistic, make them yours Jung described a parent s unrealised dreams as the most powerful influence in a child s life. When you choose your goals, make sure they are your goals not anyone else s. Also, make sure that the goals are realistic. For example, you may not be able to make the Olympics gymnastic team, but you could walk a marathon next year or work towards a high standard in yoga. Be honest with yourself about it and when the yeah, but tape starts playing remind yourself that you are not given a dream without the capacity to make it true. This is particularly true if you find that you have a recurring desire about something. Should Rugby Sevens be an Olympic Event?Posted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesThe exposure to a international audience would be huge, billions of people now watch the Olympics. News reports would spread throughout the world and it would greatly increase the ‘brand recognition’ of the sport throughout the world. But the Olympic Committee have been resisting. They have now reached, I believe, a ‘one in, one out’ level. It has been decided that the Olympics now has the right number of sports taking part and so for one to enter another sport must be removed. But rugby sevens can really add something to the Olympics. The fifteen aside game is too intense to put a worthwhile tournament together. But the IRB World Sevens Series is now a big event, and each tournament only takes place over the course of a weekend, which would be easy to fit into any Olympic schedule. According to the IRB (International Rugby Board) statistics in the 06/07 season the sevens tournament reached 213 million homes. All games bring attendances of over 25,000 and in 06/07 a cumulative attenda … Tags: Attenda, Billions, Brand Recognition, Fit, Game, Games, International Audience, International Rugby Board, International Statistics, News Reports, Olympic Committee, Olympic Event, Olympic Schedule, Olympics, Olympics News, Rugby Sevens, Sevens Tournament, Sport, World Series, World Sevens Series
