Commercial Gymnastics Summer Camps?Posted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesThere are the large commercial camps that only operate in the summer and are designed to attract large numbers of gymnasts for huge profits. There are also other gym programs, ranging from YMCA programs to regular gyms to college programs, that use this as an additional profit center. Large Commercial Camps Charging the highest prices, these camps offer a wide-ranging array of normal camp activities (even a variety of different types of camps) in addition to their version of gymnastics training. Coaching quality varies from college gymnasts to college coaches free for the summer to coaches who just happened to bring their team along to the camp. The best-known name coaches at these camps are usually either the camp directors and do little actual coaching or are merely visiting. It is not uncommon for name coaches to trade the use of their name in the advertising for the right to use the camp facilities to train their own gymnasts. Commercial Camps Other programs that run their own ver … Tags: Array, Camp Directors, College Coaches, Gym Programs, Gymnastics Camps, Gymnastics Training, Gymnasts, Gyms, Large Numbers, Profit Center, Profits, Summer Camps, Training Coaching, Ymca Programs

The Importance of Flexibility for GymnasticsPosted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesAnd, there are many skills that look good only if you are flexible. Flexibility Speeds Learning! Most top level training programs require that you meet minimum gymnastics flexibility (and strength) requirements because it speeds the learning process when you are flexible enough to learn any skill and keeps gymnasts from developing bad habits from working skills incorrectly. Flexibility Can Be Improved! Flexibility is fortunately one of those physical attributes that can be improved simply by spending time working on it. In general, the more time spent the more flexible you become. Train Both Statically and Dynamically There are two types of flexibility most commonly used in gymnastics training static and dynamic - and those are also two of the ways you can work on your flexibility. An example of static flexibility is sitting in splits. Split leaps are an example of dynamic or active flexibility. Other examples of static and active flexibility are kicks (active) and scales (static). … Tags: Bad Habits, Gymnastics Training, Gymnasts, Importance Of Flexibility, Leaps, Physical Attributes, Spending Time, Splits, Static Flexibility, Strength Requirements, Types Of Flexibility

Gymnastics: Current Issues in Gymnast TrainingPosted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesIn gymnastics, the lack of qualified coaches is perhaps the biggest problem. The sport is growing at a rapid rate and there were not enough coaches (of any experience level) before. No Place for Coaches to Learn There are many reasons for this and a number of deficiencies in the coaching pool. The largest problems is that there is no place for anyone who is interested to go to learn how to coach correctly. There is no college, University, trade school or even central source of information where you can go to learn how to coach and the higher the level you aspire to coach, the less information and resources there are. Bad Coaching Habits and Practicesare Passed On Coaches in this country learned how to coach either from how they were coached themselves or by mimicking another coach in the gym. A once annual coaches congress realistically does little to improve the situation. Add in the lack of useful informational resources and coaches are basically on their own. This is the problem … Tags: Central Source, Coach, Coaching, Congress, Current Issues, Deficiencies, Gymnast, Gymnastics Training, Informational Resources, Pool, Rapid Rate, Source Of Information

Gymnastics Balance Beam Basic Training Program ComplexPosted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesA single fall can eliminate gymnasts from winning a medal in the beam event and often also in the All-around. Beam medallists are often the All-Around winners. Complete Beam Basics in One Training Program Because beam is different from the other gymnastics events, gymnasts and coaches find the need to work on a special and complete basic training program for balance beam that is designed to build strength for beam, develop balance, completely eliminate falls, and improve balance beam skill consistency. Beam Basics are Critical to Future Beam Success Successful mastery of such a program can allow gymnasts to acquire more complex beam skills with less effort, more confidence and in a shorter period of time. Mastering such skills and drills has short and long term benefits. Skipping the basic beam building blocks puts a gymnast in a position where at some point their bad habits can stop them from having success in staying on beam. Train Basics Before Trying to Learn Advanced Skills As wi … Tags: Bad Habits, Building Blocks, Confidence, Consistency, Gymnast, Gymnastics Balance Beam, Gymnastics Events, Gymnastics Training, Gymnasts, Period Of Time, Success, Train Basics

Gymnastics Is More Than CompetitionPosted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesThe reality is that gymnastics is a great “gateway” sport, that is, it prepares any child for a higher level of participation in many activities because of the confidence developed and body awareness attained - both attributes of gymnastics training. There are also different levels of competition that don’t have to lead to Olympic competition or years of grueling training. By that, I mean that routines developed by USA Gymnastics can be used by AAU (Amateur Athletic Union), YMCA, school, and recreational programs without the emphasis on competition for competition’s sake but for learning how to perform, learning to enjoy the competitive experience, and learning how to express oneself through movement. Recovery from a fall Another great benefit of gymnastics training is an increased awareness of the body in activity making recovery from falls or strategic changes in body position easier to accomplish. Many gymnastics skills have a takeoff phase, the skill performance, and a landing pha … Tags: Amateur Athletic Union, Attributes, Benefit, Body Awareness, Body Position, Confidence, Gateway, Gymnastics Skills, Gymnastics Training, Lead, Olympic Competition, Participation, Sake, Skill Performance, Sport, Takeoff, Usa Gymnastics, Ymca School

The Solution to the Collegiate Gymnastics Crisis - PrivatizePosted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesNo other students in the University are allowed to use the facility for liability reasons. Collegiate Gymnastics Facilities Serve Very Few Students In general, the expense of the equipment and facility for so few students in what is generally a non-revenue sport leads to the decision that so many Universities have made. Shut down the gymnastics program and increase other women s programs and just eliminate the men s program to even up the Title 9 ratios. Privatization Club Programs Provide Coaching, Facilities and Equipment The innovative solution to benefit all parties is to privatize gymnastics training. By this we mean, that private gymnastics clubs should negotiate a deal with their local college/University to provide the coaching, equipment and training facility for the college/University gymnastics team. University Provides Scholarships and Competition Team Expenses The University would provide payment for the coaching, scholarships, travel and all other competition and NCAA c … Tags: Coaching, College Gymnastics, Collegiate Gymnastics, Competition Team, Gymnastics Clubs, Gymnastics Program, Gymnastics Team, Gymnastics Training, Innovative Solution, Liability Reasons, Local College, Ncaa, Privatization, Ratios, Scholarships, Sport, Team Expenses, Title 9, Travel, Universities
