I bought this book in the UK last year after a recommendation from a friend, who said it was the top ranked marathon training book on Amazon in the UK. After reading it and following its advice, I can see why.
If you are new to marathon or half marathon running, this is the only book you need.
After I had my baby, i set myself a goal to run in my first marathon and this book helped me every step of the way. It has great pictures which help to break up the text and it’s easy and entertaining to read. It covers everything from training to nutrition to injuries and most importantly of all - it’s realistic. This book spoke to me far more than 3 of the top ranked books on the Amazon here and I’m amazed this gem of a book has not really been discovered yet.
I never thought i’d say this, but seeing that I enjoyed the last marathon so much I am now thinking of doing another one! I lost the last 20lbs of my baby weight last time, so it’ll be a great way to stay in shape.
So, If you want to enjoy your running and spend a little extra on a great marathon training book, you will not regret buying this. I think I’ll buy the author’s other book on fitness myths. If this one is anything to go by, it’ll surely be a great read.

In fact the first modern trampoline only actually came into existence in the 20th century in America. George Nissan and Larry Griswold a gymnast and assistant coach used their experiences of training with and mending the safety nets used by trapeze artists to inspire their first portable trampoline in 1936. Trampolining as a sport was born and from there was taken into gymnastic competitions from 1947, but took until 1967 for the sport to be recognized in its own right. Teaching Children Gymnastics: A Developmentally Appropriate Approach Teaching Children Gymnastics: A Developmentally Appropriate Approach Teaching Children Gymnastics, Second Edition, shows teachers how to use an innovative and individualized approach to teaching gymnastics skills and how to link those skills into sequences. This text has been expanded to present 30 child-tested examples of gymnastics activities (called learning experiences) that are ideal for children in kindergarten through grade 6. The learning experiences are divided into three skill themes: traveling, statics, and rotation. Each learning experience may be explored for three or more lessons to provide up to a full unit of instruction. This book explains the why and how of teaching children gymnastics. It describes how learning experiences allow teachers to focus each lesson on one skill theme while at the same time drawing on other themes to support the development of sequences. This approach helps children advance more quickly from performing isolated skills to performing movement sequences.

The complexity that routines entail increases the risk of painful injury and fatigue if proper preparations are not taken to ensure all-around safety. The most common injuries to the body are those to the ankles and feet, the lower back, knees, hands, and wrists. These can be due to overuse or simple stress. The lower body injuries are generally because of unbalanced landings, while the back experiences strain when insufficient stretching has been performed. Scrapes and bruises are to be expected, even if your gymnast is properly attired — so simply be prepared. Any injury to a gymnast s body can be detrimental to his or her performance in the future. Stiffness can result from lack of use of a limb or of the back if he or she is put out of the game for too long–that is, if the injury is serious.
