Am I the Only One Who Does Not Understand Bela Karolyi?Posted by: Mr.Admin in Gymnastic Sites and The Best ArticlesThere are few if any people out there who know more about the sport of gymnastics. In 1981 Bela defected from Romania which accounts for his funny accent. In 2008 he is covering gymnastics for NBC alongside Bob Costas. Bela Karolyi would seem to be the ideal choice to provide commentary on Olympic gymnastics. Except for one thing. He is very difficult to understand. The ability to understand Mr. Karolyi is further complicated by the fact that when he gets excited he talks faster. By the time I have figured out what he said in the beginning there is a complete volume that I have missed. I was wore out by the time he was done giving his commentary. It was literally work trying to decipher his golden nuggets of input. You may perceive from the tone of this article from the beginning that I am going to suggest that NBC could have picked a better analyst for women’s gymnastics. That is certainly not the case. I must conclude that in the end it was worth the effort. In the areas the mental training program has utilized, there seems to be credible evidence that this program has been a success and contributed to the success of the United States in International competition. Self-Esteem vs. Scream One of the most important aspects for a mental training program is the creation of a positive gymnastics environment. There is overwhelming scientific evidence that a positive mental environment is a prime basis for training and competitive success, especially for girls in gymnastics and other sports. In spite of this, it seems the typical gymnastics coach is more apt to follow the Bela Karolyi School of Yelling, Screaming and Negative Feedback.
