In the fifteen years, as it has become established, the sport has changed dramatically, not just in the United Kingdom but abroad as well. Today’s lifestyle is becoming more and more fitness dominated, and a healthy approach to life, is being seen as of vital importance. With changes in employment trends and the building of sports centers and leisure complexes, an awareness of the advantages and need for leisure activities is ever growing. Already, children are being encouraged to participate in health related fitness programs, since they are becoming increasingly important in schools today. Along with some of the newer minority sports and activities health related exercises are included in school physical education programs, particularly for children in the 11 to 16 years age range. Here, too, we are seeing the introduction of rhythmic gymnastics, though this is spreading into primary and middle schools also.
